Here’s a restaurant that I put on my to-do list, and then Marie got to visit it ahead of me. Here’s what she thought about it.
Although in Atlanta I’d been more of the homebody while Grant traveled around, my job has been taking me further afield than could go before. Well, he looked at me askance for not doing more in the Sandy Springs area when I worked there, but that was different. I didn’t want to waste time driving when I could be reading a good book or playing a game when I had an hour off. Now I have a job that is mostly in the car, and (especially) when my partner is doing the driving and says “Man, you just GOTTA go to this place!” it’s a good bit more likely to happen. Several people outside the office also mentioned today’s restaurant to me. One client of mine spent at least ten minutes raving about the food and service!
So several of the food lovers in the office were raving about this place in Etowah called The Farmhouse. It’s a meat-and-three country style restaurant. The decor is elaborate but homey, and gets changed out by the season. Somebody is surely having fun with the planning for that. Sadly, I was not on the ball and didn’t take any photos of the interior, but it was fairly busy and we do prefer not to capture random other customers who haven’t given permission to have their faces in our blog if we can help it. However, their Facebook page has a lot of photos to give you a feel for the place:
There is also a Bible in the rest room on a nice table, if you should happen to need some reading to tide you over on your visit to that facility.
It’s family-owned and has been around since the mid-nineties according to a coworker whose family is from Etowah. The managers are Bill and Diane White. The food is simple and they serve a lot of it. I had the meat loaf, which as you can see is a little unconventional, but I enjoyed it. The veggies were tasty too. My partner raved about the caramel apple pie to the server, lamenting that it wasn’t on the menu for the day…and she came back to the table with a slice. They do go out of their way to make their customers happy!
The Farmhouse will be having its 20th anniversary on January 2nd and has been in the same family the whole time. Based on the enthusiasm of their fans and on my visit, it seems quite likely they’ll be around at least another twenty.
