Doughnuts in Chattanooga

I’ve never seen a city with more independently-owned doughnut places than Memphis. Atlanta’s no slouch, either, with a whole pile of great places to stop in the morning, particularly in Cobb County. Chattanooga may be a distant third to these cities, but we’ve found some great places for breakfast or a midday snack. Over a few days in late October, we visited three local favorites. Taco Town, Hixson TN

We have visited several Mexican restaurants in town looking for the best tacos. Even though I’m becoming a little weary about going up and down TN-153, our current favorite place is a no-frills joint on Hixson Pike with some great salsas and an amazing cheese dip. Armando’s Restaurant, Chattanooga TN

One of the neatest discoveries that I’ve made since moving here is finding there’s a small chain of burger joints I’d never heard of before, each quietly doing their own thing at locations dotted around the city.
