This is Marie, contributing an article about a cute little place that serves ice cream that a fair number of Chattanoogans seem to think is quite tasty. We went to Chattanooga to relax and had a simple vacation day without filling in all of our spare time at new restaurants. First, we went back to Champy’s Fried Chicken, which we visited the month before. Grant wanted to try the tamales and the catfish, which he says were pretty good, but not as good as their fried chicken, which was excellent. Continue reading “Clumpies Ice Cream, Chattanooga TN”

Hae Woon Dae, Doraville GA
This is Marie, contributing an article about our recent adventure on the outside-the-perimeter side of Buford Highway, visiting the venerable Hae Woon Dae. We took a trip out there with one of our fellow foodie bloggers, the always-fun Leslie from The Food And Me at a place of our own choosing rather than at an invitation, so we could make a social evening of it. Continue reading “Hae Woon Dae, Doraville GA”
The Capital Grille, Dunwoody GA
This is Marie, contributing an article about the The Capital Grille. Grant and I were invited to their media preview night for their newest location, in Dunwoody. This is a restaurant that concentrates on making their guests comfortable, in a dressy, low-light setting, as much as concentrating on presenting good food. Continue reading “The Capital Grille, Dunwoody GA”
The Crab Trap, Saint Simons Island GA
This is Marie, contributing an article about the Crab Trap, a place in my home town of St. Simons that I’ve only visited two or three times. It may seem ridiculous to our readers (it certainly does to Grant) that I would go home to an island and then not eat any seafood, but my mother is an excellent cook and my father and I have certain habits that have gotten very comfortable. It is a little hard for me to be pried out of those well-beaten paths and into a new restaurant. Continue reading “The Crab Trap, Saint Simons Island GA”
Maison Robert, Chamblee GA
This is Marie, writing a very small article about a very small chocolate shop. You knew I’d have to come back to sweets, right? Anyway, there is a chocolate shop in Asheville that is my true favorite, but I will cheat on them occasionally with Maison Robert now that we have become acquainted. Continue reading “Maison Robert, Chamblee GA”
Leon’s Full Service, Decatur GA
This is Marie, contributing an article about Leon’s Full Service in Decatur. The girlchild had other plans for the afternoon, so we went off with just the baby for a lunch together. These days that almost counts as a date meal! It helped that we had to park quite a ways away from the restaurant due to the rather appalling parking shortage in Decatur’s shopping district, so we got to pass by and dip into the cute little bookstore, Little Shop of Stories, along the way. Continue reading “Leon’s Full Service, Decatur GA”
Season 52’s Summer Menu
This is Marie, contributing an article about a media event at Seasons 52 for the summer menu launch.
Seasons 52, as you may know, showed up in a prior chapter. They deserve another mention, however, as they work really hard to have a varying menu based on the freshest food available. Their original concept of having whatever was freshest and best on any particular week ran aground on the shoals of frustrated recommendations (“But my friend said you had the absolute best [whatever] and I should have it too!” “So sorry, that was last week. This week we have [new special] would you like to try that?”). Continue reading “Season 52’s Summer Menu”
