‘cue Barbecue, Milton GA

In a chapter that we posted about three weeks back, I mentioned that we had wanted to take the toddler to romp around in the great big play fort at Alpharetta’s Wills Park. We finally made our way there and he had a complete blast. Before and after the madness and running around, we visited two restaurants in north Fulton County that we had never visited before. First up, we went to the town of Milton and had some ‘cue at a place called ‘cue. Continue reading “‘cue Barbecue, Milton GA”

The Brickery Grill & Bar, Sandy Springs GA (CLOSED)

This is Marie, contributing an article about The Brickery Grill & Bar, which styles itself as a neighborhood restaurant. Bruce and Sally Alterman, the owners, just passed their 22nd anniversary, and to celebrate they had a bunch of bloggers over to check out the food and comment on it. Well, I’m sure they had other celebrations as well, probably involving cake. If you decide to venture out for a visit, make sure you go past the sign at the entrance of the strip mall and back into the other side of the parking lot, as the red sign on Roswell is just there to tell you where to turn. Special Announcement: Read Grant’s guest post at “Taste Trekkers”

A couple of months ago, Seth Resler of Find Dining and Taste Trekkers reached out to me to write a post for him. That makes a nice change. Normally, what we get are the garbage that every blogger gets: Do you accept guest posts? We’ll pay you $100 to host a “story” about offshore online gambling! We’ll even write it and everything!

Seth is awesome and we love his organization, which puts on a food and travel expo about culinary tourism. Sounds like the most fun anybody could have in Providence, other than eating lots of clam pizza. Continue reading “Special Announcement: Read Grant’s guest post at “Taste Trekkers””

The Smoke Ring, Atlanta GA

I had heard of the Meat Week craze about three years ago, but didn’t pay the lovably silly tradition the attention that it deserved. Then, there had been a branch in Athens, and Hillary Brown at Flagpole had reported on one of its week of barbecue activities. That was when I first heard about the excellent Big Al’s BBQ Pit, a joint that left us far, far too soon. Continue reading “The Smoke Ring, Atlanta GA”

Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q, Marietta GA

After several years hoping that time had improved the quality of the barbecue at Williamson Brothers, we made a cautious trip to the gigantic barn of their flagship store. I won’t rehash old complaints, rather, I’d prefer to learn from them and stay away from certain things on the menu that I don’t enjoy. Full disclosure: in the mid-1990s, my parents found themselves enjoying this place, and befriended the owners, and so I have been many, many times on their dime. I briefly developed a taste for it, and it took a while, and a much broader experience of barbecue, to lose it. Continue reading “Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q, Marietta GA”

Banjo’s Barbecue, Commerce GA (CLOSED)

Problems That Only We Have Dept: Whenever we take a road trip, I want to come home with at least one new barbecue joint. That didn’t happen on our Christmas trip to south Georgia, and it looked like it wasn’t going to happen on our January trip to South Carolina, either. Because I did not do the requisite research, we pulled into the place that I wanted to try too late; they close at 4 pm on Saturdays. We didn’t have time to waste; we’d spent a lot longer with our Baby Mercy Break earlier in the afternoon already, so we headed to Anderson for our last South Carolina stop, as mentioned in the previous chapter. Continue reading “Banjo’s Barbecue, Commerce GA (CLOSED)”

Teela Taqueria, Sandy Springs GA

One Sunday evening last month, a small gang of us bloggers got together to enjoy each other’s company and talk a little shop, speak of excellent meals, and joke about silly PR stunts. Atlanta etc., Atlanta Restaurant Blog, Burgers, Barbecue and Everything Else, The Food and Me, Food Near Snellville, and Friday Date Night all joined us as we munched on some really good tacos. Continue reading “Teela Taqueria, Sandy Springs GA”
